"True duet material for the classical guitar (or even 2 guitars in general) is hard to find. This is most likely because the classical guitarist can play polyphonic music on a single instrument thus elimintaing the need for suppoting players. So when 2 guitarists do get together it is the balancing of the 2 homophonic instruments that is paramount.
Solo classical guitar music already contains multiple voices like melody, harmony, and bass and it is common to encounter classical guitar music that sustains two, three, or four musical lines. The combination of the two guitars together makes a rich harmonic, melodic, and rhythmic tapestry full of intertwining lines.
This new frontier is quickly become my favorite medium to compose and arrange for." - Darren Curtis Skanson
